Facebook Forever?

I thought this article was too interesting to pass up,
especially since I had just received a request to join:

Facebook Membership May Be Forever

At one time I had thought about setting up an account
on Facebook to network for art, etc... ; I understand
"everybody's doin' it", and I have some other friends
who are trying to get me to join, but naaaaaaaah!

I mean, sheesh! I already have a MySpace page, blog(s),
blog networking accounts, a website, and numerous forum
and email accounts. How much online social networking is
necessary to be relavant in today's society? LOL!

Can't we all just keep in touch by email, occasional chat and or
telephone anymore? Actually, these days I keep in contact with folks
more by telephone than anything else. I like the phone better.

I am on Facebook. Now, of course, the new terms of service are, could be, will be of some worry to some. Not to me. I have nothing to hide. And then, what is the use of wanting to hide something anyway. There are other "Big Brothers" watching us, like Yahoo and Google and many more.

But I agree with you: Why do we need Facebook anyway? We have emails, we have other social networks. It is easy to stay in contact. Except sometimes for the phone wich, like you, I like much better. But it is extremely difficult to join my colleagues/friends in Nyala, South Darfur because the mobile network is many times off. For up to 10 days.

So, Facebook is convenient to tell them quickly "Hello, my friends".

Other than that, Facebook is a pain in the "you know where". You get requests for applications. I answered them. I sacked all of them, they are just a nuisance.

So. Facebook for fun? No. Facebook for a quick message? Yes.

And finally, it is good to see you around.

Well, you've just confirmed what I've thought all along: "Other than that, Facebook is a pain in the you know where."

Thanks, Peter! :D

P.S. It's good to be around again. ;)
